In loving memory of Mary ‘Yvonne’ Hadley: 1939-2023

Posted

Mary "Yvonne" Hadley, 83, passed away on Feb. 16, 2023, after a two and a half year battle with cancer.

She was born in 1939 in Milwaukie to Forrest and Madeline Bair. They relocated to the Vancouver area in 1946 where she lived the rest of her life. She graduated from Battle Ground High School and then raised her family out along the Lewis River. She worked at the Battle Ground Laundromat, Kravigs Meat Locker and Meadow Glade Nursing Home, where she met her second husband, Hal Hadley, and enjoyed the next 30-plus years. Hal and Yvonne drove the big Mayflower truck for nine years and then sold yard arbors on their corner lot until his death in 2018. She loved to read, cross stitch and watch old game shows.

She is survived by her three children, Gary Gross, Mike Gross and Joyce Greenwood (Michael); six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother Ken Bair; and sister Evelyn Ables, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you goes to PeaceHealth Hospice group, her niece Paula Werner, sister Evelyn Ables, longtime friend Willa Esteb and her granddaughter Nicole Steelman for being there to help the family when needed.

"Mom, you have now made the headlines." You will be missed.

At Yvonne's request, there will be no funeral service. The family will have a celebration of life at a later to be determined date.
