In loving memory of Lucille E. Gukeisen: 1930-2023

Posted

Lucille E. Gukeisen was born on July 25, 1930, in Riverview, North Dakota.

She passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 15, 2023.

Lucille Graue met Raymond Gukeisen and later married on Dec. 30, 1950. They had two children, Cheryl in 1957 and Donna in 1960.

Lucille made herself a career at the Battle Ground High School cafeteria as a cook. She was well known as a bossy lady. She made sure things were in order and directions were followed.

After retiring from school, it didn’t slow Lucille down. She has always been very active at her church. She belonged to several bunco groups. She was an active member in the Battle Ground chapter of the F.O.E. There was always an organization or group that took up her calendar. She made so many great memories with beautiful friendships along the way! She will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her!

Lucille had a table with her mother at the Ladybug Bazaar back when it was at Tiger Bowl. She enjoyed sewing aprons, dog coats and other various items. But embroidering dish towels was always her favorite! She would have several sets for sale and would always sell out by midday. She was embroidering almost every day. She gave her table up back in 2022 after about 50 years since she just couldn’t make them as fast as she used to.

Lucille has suffered great loss in her life. Her husband was taken in 2003. Her youngest, Donna Gukeisen, in 2014, and last, her oldest, Cheryl Bellomy, in 2022.

Lucille leaves behind her two grandchildren, Andrea (Dale) Scheradella and Jennifer (Robert) Williams; and three great-grandsons, Austin (25), Drew (20) and Brayden (11).

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 13, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Church.
