In Loving Memory Of Kevin Nickels: 1959 ~ 2023

Posted

Kevin Mike Nickels was born September 21, 1959, at Okeene, Oklahoma, to J.D. and Mavis Nickels. He died suddenly at home in Dublin, California, on May 29, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Christina; his daughter, Chloe (his pride and joy); his mother, Mavis; brothers Kyle (Anne) and Kent (Gina); sister Allison (Jim), inlaws Edward and Vivianna Kwak; several nieces and nephews, and friends around the world.

Kevin started school at a two-room country school at Isabella, Oklahoma, then to Moore, Oklahoma, until the family moved to Washington State in 1970. He graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1977. He attended Clark College, taking courses he wanted, then went to work at TekTronics, gaining engineering status at age 19.

He lived, worked and played in Washington, Tokyo, London, Atlanta Georgia, and California. At a memorial service held by his coworkers at the AtSign Company (a company of which he was a founder) they repeatedly used the word “Joy” to describe him. He was a problem solver, an innovator, and an encourager to them. Described as a “man ahead of his time,” his goal was always to make life better for everyone.

Gathering in memory of Kevin will be August 19th, noon-4 PM at the home of his mother, Mavis Nickels. For information, please call 360- 771-2669.
