In loving memory of Joyce Ross: 1939-2023

Joyce Lydia Ross (Kalmbach, Burroughs) was born July 1, 1939, in Bismark, North Dakota and passed away on April 20, 2023, in Battle Ground, Washington. She was the middle child of five girls. She grew up in Vancouver, Washington. 

Joyce graduated from Hudson Bay High School and then graduated from beauty school. Years later, she worked at Grandma Cookies and Nabisco. She obtained her real estate license in 1973 and then her broker’s license. She became a very successful broker and opened BG Real Estate with Jerry Burroughs in 1977. Joyce was well known in Clark County for her kindness, honesty and integrity. Joyce retired in 2001. She loved to travel, whether it was RVing across the United States or going on cruises to many destinations. She last resided in Ilwaco, Washington. 

She was finally ready for a home again and Joyce and Lew purchased a mobile park in Ilwaco on the bay. They sold the park in 2020 and purchased a mobile home on an acre, with a beautiful view. 

She was the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was loved so much and by anyone she knew. 

She had many health complications in her last few years, with diabetes, her kidneys and then cancer. She was with her family when she passed away peacefully. 

She is preceded in death by Jerry Burroughs (first husband), her parents Daniel and Esther Kalmbach, and Lewis Ross (second husband). 

She is survived by daughters Leslie Rene Burroughs, Laurie Grant and son Daniel Burroughs; two step-daughters Bonnie Brinkley and Janie Linnerooth; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren 

The celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Moose Lodge, 6719 NE 219th St., Battle Ground, Washington, 98604.
