James (Jim) Griffith, 68, passed away on Jan. 17, 2024, at Emanuel Hospital with his family by his side. Jim was born in Vancouver, Washington, to Loren and Joyce Griffith on May 27, 1955. Jim grew up in the Orchards area and graduated from Evergreen High School in 1973.
Over the years, Jim owned and operated a dairy farm, built pole buildings and worked as a farm manager in Hermiston, Oregon. Jim was a hard worker and had extensive knowledge of farming, building and remodeling. He enjoyed teaching skills to others and helping them with projects. He enjoyed mowing, planting trees and all other farm-related tasks. His hobbies included gardening, cooking (especially baking pies), keeping bees, fishing, clamming and taking care of his dogs. Jim was known for his quirky sense of humor, often playing pranks and telling jokes. Jim was loved and will be missed by many people.
Jim is survived by his wife of 23 years, Pamela Griffith; step-children Josh (and Jodi) Lawton and Cassie (and Brian) Keep. Family includes siblings Denise Uber, Timothy Griffith, Philip Griffith and Julia Griffith, and his mother, Joyce Collins; grandchildren Madison, Saige, Lorelei and Charlie, step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Loren Griffith, and nephew Billy Griffith.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at the La Center Community Center from 2-4 p.m.
