Virginia “Ginger” Crabtree, 74, of Battle Ground, Washington, died of complications from cancer in the early morning hours of Monday, April 24, 2023.
She is the daughter of Milton and Mildred Crabtree, of Fort Collins, Colorado, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her younger brother, Thomas Crabtree; two sisters-in-law, H. Kathleen Crabtree and Tannya Crabtree; and a great-niece, Emma Palas. Ginger has two surviving siblings, her older brother, Kenneth Crabtree, and wife Kathleen, of Hillsboro, Oregon, and a younger sister, Christine Crabtree of Northglenn, Colorado. Ginger is also survived by four nephews and one niece: Kevin and Leigh Crabtree (Finley and Kieren), of Portland, Oregon; Kristen and Sean Simkins (Braden and Nakota), of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Scott and Mandy Crabtree (Mason, Hayden, Kaleb and Kolby), of Nunn, Colorado; Marcus and Alisha Palas (Oliver and Miles), of Broomfield, Colorado; and Shawn and Bonnie Crabtree (Kelly, Duke and Nolan), of Miles City, Montana.
Ginger graduated with a master’s degree in business administration from Northern Colorado University and a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Colorado State University. She taught for two years at Western Wyoming College in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and worked at Neodata Services in Louisville, Colorado, in the area of management of magazine subscriptions. At the turn of the century, she worked in England to prepare computer software for the year 2000.
During her time in England, she caught the traveling bug and spent many weekends visiting many countries in Europe. Since retirement, she has visited 61 countries traveling within North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Arctic and Antarctica. Ginger also had plans to visit Lithuania (her grandparent's home country), the Canadian Maritimes, Nova Scotia, Rwanda and Cape Town. Her passion was traveling.
In her spare time, she participated in the General Federation of Women's Club of Battle Ground doing many social and fundraising events. Ginger also made time to read with her book club. She definitely enjoyed life.
