Carlyle Jacob Schwartz died on July 15, 2022, at home in Walla Walla, Washington, after several years of decline due to Parkinson’s disease.

Carl was born to Isaac and Leona (Wagner) Schwartz on April 2, 1947, in Spokane, Washington. He grew up near the town of Farmington, Washington. He graduated from Upper Columbia Academy in 1965, and from Walla Walla College in 1969.

He spent the whole of his career (1969–2017) at the Bonneville Power Administration, as an employee and later a contractor. He traveled extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest and neighboring states testing and commissioning electrical systems at substations.

In 1978, he married Juanita Vickroy and settled in Battle Ground, Washington, where they raised their two children.

Carl was an active member of the Amboy and later the Yacolt Seventh-day Adventist churches and was involved in the construction and leadership of both. He enjoyed hiking in the mountains, working outdoors, and helping anyone in need.

Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Marsha Salisbury. He is survived by his wife, Nita; his son, Matt; his daughter, Katie (Stephan) Westcott; and grandchildren, Alice and James, all of Walla Walla. He is also survived by his sisters Judy (Don) Oellrich, of Lake Tapps, Washington, and Marj (Gerald) Anderson, of Conway, Arkansas; and by his brother, Mike, of Hayden, Idaho.

Services will be held at Yacolt Adventist Church at 3 p.m. on Sept. 23, 2022, and at Farmington Adventist Church at 2 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2022.
