In Loving Memory of Barbara Wooldridge

Posted

Barbara R. Wooldridge passed away at the age of 88 on the property where she raised her family.

Barbara, a lifelong resident of Clark County, was born in Vancouver, Washington, to Adolf “Buck” and Elizabeth “Elsie” Brosseau.

She worked at Crown Zellerbach for many years, and was a farmer and homemaker. She met Ivan “Lee” Wooldridge after he showed off his skills on a motorcycle, and they were married in the fall of 1953.

Later, they could be found driving the three-wheeler or a golf cart around their farm. Barb and Lee tended an amazing, bountiful garden, orchard and cattle farm. They would be seen at the Clark County Fair for many, many years with the gas-engine club, or Barb’s blue-ribbon pickles. She loved her cattle and dachshunds, which started the rest of her family having only dachshund dogs.

Her canning, baking and cooking were famous among family, friends and her community. The hay crew felt the love when they got her delicious beans in appreciation for their very hard work.

She was quick to share her canning, even making special food when she found out someone’s favorites, like tiny pickles, yummy jams and jellies, or tasty desserts, like Egyptian cake. Everybody loved her — when Barbara was with you, she made you feel like you were the most important person there was.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Wooldridge (2012), and siblings, Alta, Mary, and Fred.

She is survived by her brother Marty and sister Nancy. She is survived by her five children Joseph (and Debra), Sheree (and Paul), Monte, Nick (and Laura), Chipper (and Kim), and Pat (and David); nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14 at Layne’s Battle Ground Funeral Home, at Northeast First and Northeast Clark in Battle Ground.
