Impact Auto strives to make positive impact in north Clark County community

An automotive repair shop in Yacolt has a goal to positively impact the northern reaches of Clark County.

Impact Automotive owners Brad and Melissa Yahn thrive on focusing their business around community, from special offerings at their shop to getting involved in numerous events Yacolt offers throughout the year.

“If you look at our vision, we believe people should work together to create a community where people are valued,” Melissa Yahn said. “So we live by that every day, and there’s our mission, ‘To treat our community fairly and provide them with outstanding service to the best of our ability through vehicle repairs and maintenance. We stand apart from your traditional repair shop by a sense of community, honesty and going over and beyond.’ ”

From Mother’s Day events to being in charge of the Yacolt Rendezvous Days parade, Melissa Yahn said she finds joy in bringing the community together.

May will kick off the Yahns’ “summer of fun,” as they host a Mother’s Day event at their auto repair shop. Melissa Yahn said they will be holding an event so children won’t have to pay anything to give their mother a gift on the special day. Kids will receive a potted plant to give to their mom for Mother’s Day with other festivities planned for the event.

“We’re just very involved in our community — just super involved, and we have a lot of local businesses that I will support and help get off the ground,” Melissa Yahn said. “We’re always about lifting people up as opposed to putting people down. We are a very close-knit community.”

Beyond community-based events, she said they try to keep their shopping local to the northern communities such as Amboy and Yacolt. Melissa Yahn added that, per-capita, north Clark County has more entrepreneurs than anywhere else.

“So, we’re all here — small businesses owners — we’re all about shopping local, keeping it local,” she said.

For Father’s Day in June, Brad and Melissa Yahn haven’t decided on the planned activity but will host either a do-it-yourself clinic or a fishing venture.

After the Rendezvous Days festivities conclude in July, Impact Auto will be host a car show on Aug. 17.

“We close down Yacolt Road. We bring in vendors, a lot of the local businesses sponsor — they get on my bandwagon with me,” Melissa Yahn said of the car show plans connecting businesses together. “This year, our 50/50 raffle is going to be the Listen Line. So the Listen Line is for mental health. It started up here in north county. So we try to keep money up here.”

With Impact Automotive impacting the northern communities in various ways, Brad and Melissa Yahn said they enjoy the feedback and support.

“The community loves all the things we do,” Melissa Yahn said. “For the last several years, they’ve been asking for more, and we haven’t had the ability or had the partnerships until the last two years.”
