Harvest Days entertains in Battle Ground

Festival faced challenges with heat wave and parade incident

Harvest Days attracted large crowds Friday, July 14, and Saturday, July 15, to Old Town Battle Ground for a car cruise and parade down Main Street and Northeast First Street.

The afternoon heat on Saturday caused the early shutdown of the anticipated Bounce-N-Battle kid play zone as the inflatables became too hot. The heat also caused the Battle Ground Festivals Association to allow vendors to pack up early.

The Harvest Nights Cruise was well attended with the north parking lot at Battle Ground High School filling up from 3 to 6 p.m. prior to the cruise on Main Street Friday evening.

The Royal Rosarians of Portland, Miss Washington, the Battle Ground High School marching band were among the participants in the parade.

The parade came to a pause and ultimately was rerouted after a 17-year-old girl fell from a vehicle on North Parkway Avenue with around half the parade not finished.

The Harvest Days celebration included a carnival, main stage entertainment, a BMX bike show, a swap meet, a talent show and a car show on Saturday by the True Impressions car club.

The night ended with a professional fireworks show.
