Furry Friends has selected Tanika Campbell as its general manager and adoptions coordinator for the nonprofit, no-kill cat rescue that serves Clark County.

The organization, which has been operating since 1999, was all volunteer-run until 2022. Campbell is the third paid staff member. She will report to Executive Director Jenn Hutchman.

Campbell’s duties include being in charge of all communications regarding adoptions, approving applications, scheduling meet and greets for cat adoptions, facilitating adoptions, scheduling transportation for all appointments, and keeping electronic records up to date.

Campbell and her husband, Mike, started volunteering with Furry Friends in 2012. They hosted a food collection and donation location at their work.

“This led into volunteering to be socializers and enrolling their labrador in the pet assisted living program,” stated a news release.

In 2016, they helped Furry Friends move into its current shelter. They also helped with in-person events and kept four feral cat colonies fed over the years.

“They are fosters for our medically needy adult cats, pregnant moms and kittens and are very good at coaxing cats out of their shells and getting them to trust people,” stated the release. “At one time, they were fostering 28 cats and kittens in their home.”
