April Furth will serve as the director of Clark County’s community development department after she was appointed to the position by County Manager Kathleen Otto.

She started in her new role on Nov. 16,  according to a news release.

Prior to the appointment, Furth was hired in February to lead the permit center in the community development department. She has more than 17 years of experience in retail management and has also served as a regional merchandising manager, store manager, and vice president, the release stated.

Furth’s work at the permit center helped reduce permit intake times and improve overall customer service.

“April has been instrumental in working with her team, external partners and the general public to develop respectful and productive working relationships and streamlined services,” Otto said. “Her commitment to the Clark County team has not only provided an opportunity for collaboration; it has fostered an environment focused on customer service.”

Furth said she is excited to be the director and hopes to make a difference on a larger scale.

“Since I started working at the county, I’ve worked with staff to evaluate and improve the processes of Clark County Permit Center by creating small wins and building momentum of success for a highly skilled long-term team,” Furth stated in the release.

The community development department provides services for multiple divisions, including building, development engineering, land use, animal control, and the fire marshal’s office.
