Gymnastics spring classes: 10 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on June 12. Jump Start will provide gymnastics lessons, which focus on the bars, balance beam and trampoline. Kids between the ages of 2 and 6, and who are potty-trained, can learn balance, strength, coordination and flexibility, while building confidence and having fun. The first class is free and the drop-in rate for additional classes is $25. Classes are held at the  Battle Ground Community Center at 912 E. Woodland Planters Days: 3 to 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 18. Woodland will hold its Planters Day celebration, which will include parades, fireworks, a carnival, a car show, and other events. To find out more information, visit planters-days.com. Pet Parade: 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 15. The Downtown Woodland Revitalization group will host a pet parade with a $5 entry fee. Tickets can be purchased at Woodland City Hall and Horseshoe Lake Park.

Book sale and groundbreaking: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17. The Friends of Woodland Community Library group will hold an outdoor book bag sale at 828 Goerig St. in Woodland. The sale will feature books in the mystery, fiction, romance, children, young adult, and homeschool categories, among others,  at the future site of the new library. Fill one of their bags for $8. Juneteenth Meaningful Movie: 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 19. The Old Liberty Theater will host the premiere of “Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting On Two Fronts,” an award winning documentary feature by local resident Dru Holley that explores the complex history of Black soldiers in the United States military. A discussion will follow the 54-minute film. The event is free to attend, but donations are appreciated. Old Liberty Theater is located at 115 N. Main Ave. in Ridgefield.



Lewis River Rotary meeting: 7 to 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20. Join the Lewis River Rotary Club at its meeting at the Battle Ground Community Center at 912 E. Used book sale: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. The Friends of the La Center Library are sponsoring a pop-up book sale that will feature fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books for sale. The prices are $1 for hardback and large paperback books, and 50 cents for small paperback books. The proceeds will benefit library programs for all ages.  The sale is at the La Center Community Library located at 1411 NE Lockwood Creek Road in La Center. Vacation Bible School: 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 26 to Thursday, June 29. Join Bethel Lutheran Church for “Stellar VBS: Shine Jesus’ Light.” It will be held at the church, which is located at 12919 NE 159th St. in Brush Prairie. YMCA day camps: June 26 through Aug. 11. The Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Clark County Family YMCA to offer summer day camps at the Battle Ground Community Center at 912 E. Main St. The YMCA day camps, designed for two age groups spanning 4 to 12 years old, provide child-centered activities and opportunities for learning through discovery. Options include dance fitness camp, cooking camps and a variety of STEM camps focused on Lego engineering, Star Wars coding with Legos and stop motion animation. Summer playground program: June 17 through Aug. 17. The free eight-week program provided by the Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department is designed for children between the ages of 4 and 12 and brings summer activities to parks in the city each week. Each week will feature a different themed activity and provides children the opportunity to play games and create arts and crafts projects. Miss Teen competition: 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Program, which has been renamed to the Miss Teen La Center North County Scholarship Program, will hold its competition at La Center Middle School at 2001 NE Lockwood Creek Road. The program has expanded its competition to include Woodland, Battle Ground, Yacolt and Amboy. The Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland will host its Wine, Nine and Dine event with wine and appetizer reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. shotgun start.
