Clark County Assessor’s Office hosts events for tax exemption program

Property tax exemption specialists from the Clark County Assessor’s Office will be available to aid property owners with the tax exemption program for senior citizens and people with disabilities at several upcoming events.

Representatives will present information about the program from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 28, at the Ridgefield City Council meeting in the Columbia Assembly Room, 510 Pioneer St., Ridgefield.

Tax exemption specialists will also be available to answer questions and enroll applicants from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 5, at the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex in the Hillhurst Community Room, 3101 S. Hillhurst Rd., Ridgefield.

Homeowners interested in attending should bring a photo ID, federal tax return, W-2 and/ or 1099 and any deduction documentation.

The tax exemption program for senior citizens and people with disabilities can reduce property tax liability for qualifying homeowners. Eligibility is based on age or disability, home ownership, residency and income. Participants are not required to repay the taxes, and their homes are not subject to property liens.
