Participants involved in the Unit 6610 Battalion or Stockade divisions of the Christian Service Brigade (CSB) program in the early to mid 80s at Bethel Lutheran Church are invited to attend a reunion from Aug. 3 to Aug. 5
Bethel Lutheran Church, located at 12919 NE 159th St. in Brush Prairie, will serve as the base for the excursions on Aug. 3 and Aug. 4, which begin at 9 a.m.
A news release from the church stated a local fishing trip is planned for Aug. 3 and participants will hike nature trails through 81 acres of mature forest and open meadows on Aug. 4.
A meal and evening program at Bethel are scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.
“During the 1980s, the men in our program worked closely with scores of boys from our church and the community,” Battalion leader John Johnson stated in the release. “The fun, educational and spiritual experiences CSB leaders shared with the boys during those years helped shape their lives to make them the men they are today.”
Family members of former CSB participants and anyone involved in the program are welcome and encouraged to attend.
A news release from Bethel Lutheran Church stated the goal of the Christian Service Brigade is to help boys become leaders and disciples for Christ by providing program materials, traditions, events, and a culture designed to develop a boy mentally, spiritually, physically and socially.
“It is a multi-year discipleship program designed to give a boy everything he needs to be a man of God,” stated the release.
