Battle Ground voters and citizens should put a quick no deal on any plan to raise taxes.
Like in Revolutionary times, the growth of taxation destroys a family – taking money from the
ability to buy food, clothing, housing and medical care. Pushing sales tax up towards 8.6 percent amounts to a heavier burden on everyone trying to stay solvent.
It’s only a matter of time before politicians discover more reasons to make life harder with even higher taxes. One only has to look at the assessor’s bill on your house to see the growth of local school taxes, spiraling up into the heavens with 50 percent and even higher increases.
If there was ever a need for reform it is in public education where spending is out of control. School budgets should be trimmed and go on a diet.
The state of Washington needs conservative legislators to bring the pendulum back.
