Battle Ground Public Schools announces administrative changes for 2023-24 school year

Battle Ground Public Schools recently announced changes in administration that will take place in July for the 2023-24 school year.

All of the assignments were approved by the school board, according to a news release from the district.

At Tukes Valley Primary School, April Vonderharr, the current interim principal, will permanently assume the role of principal at Tukes Valley. Salina Machida, the current interim assistant principal, will permanently assume the role of assistant principal.

At Daybreak Middle School, Lesli Collum, the current assistant principal, will become Daybreak’s principal.

At Pleasant Valley Middle School, Austin Brothers has been named principal at Pleasant Valley Middle School. Brothers is currently the assistant principal at Chief Umtuch Middle School.



At Battle Ground Virtual Academy, Matt Stanfill will serve as the school’s assistant principal. Stanfill is currently an assistant principal and the athletic director at Battle Ground High School.

At Battle Ground High School, Kirsten Talbott, the current dean of students, will serve as the school’s assistant principal and athletic director. Jamal McKenzie will serve as the school’s dean of students. McKenzie is currently the athletic director at Union High School at Evergreen Public Schools.

Additional administrative changes include the resignation of Ellen Wiessner, the executive director of special services, at the end of the school year. Kellie Clay, the current director of special services, will become the executive director.

Jennifer Goodwin has been named the director of special services. Goodwin is currently an assistant principal at Evergreen Public Schools.
