The city of Battle Ground is preparing for two holiday light events this season, with registration for a house lighting competition and a lighted parade both opening Nov. 1.

From Nov. 1 through Dec. 1, people can register their houses in the city’s “Battle of Lights” competition. Creative use of lights, unique design, outstanding story/theme and overall presentation are among the judging criteria, according to a press release.

Battle Ground Parks and Recreation staff will assemble a roadmap of lights for spectators to tour the lights from Dec. 4 through Dec. 21, the city stated. There will be a people’s choice voting category for the spectators, as well. Winners will be announced on Dec. 22.

Additional details, including contest rules and event criteria, will be announced on the city’s website before registration opens.

Battle Ground is also planning for a “Lights on Wheels” parade Dec. 2. Registration for this event also begins Nov. 1.

Registration for the parade is free, and spectators are welcome to grab a spot along the route and enjoy the festive creations entered in this year’s parade. Full event details and a parade map will be shared on the city’s website when made available.

Information for both events will be available at cityofbg.org.
