Battle Ground’s free healthcare clinic, Battle Ground Healthcare, is again hosting its program “Taking Back My Life” starting July 9.

Taking Back My Life is a nine-week program of classes for people who suffer from chronic back or neck injury, diabetes or any other chronic pain. The program will supply pedometers and books to assist as well as education from physical therapists and mental health and nutrition specialists. The program has shown positive outcomes on 11 out of 13 measures with data on over 100 patients.

The classes are for those without medical insurance, who aren’t covered fully by their insurance or can’t afford a co-pay on their insurance.

To participate in this program one must be diagnosed with chronic pain and be at, or below, 300% of the federal poverty level, which is $36,180 a year for a single-person household. Attendees must be referred by a healthcare provider and over the age of 18.
