Art scholarship honors memory of talented Clark County artist

Posted

Kyle Comeau was on his way to a highly successful career in art before he died almost four years ago in a tragic bicycle accident.

The Clark County artist graduated from Columbia River High School in 2007 and also attended the Vancouver School of the Arts. After that, he completed an associate’s degree from Clark College. With his education, Comeau was quickly working his way up in the ranks before his death. His last and uncompleted job, for example, was designing the paint scheme for Optimus Prime in the most recent “Transformers” movie.

Though he’s gone, the dream of what a local art student can accomplish remains and lives through a scholarship in his honor. The scholarship is provided privately by his parents, other family members and friends with a total amount of $1,000. It will be awarded to a qualifying student of the arts that fall under the hands-on format of mediums such as, but not limited to, drawing, painting, airbrushing, sculpture (clay or metal), photography, music and more.

The deadline to apply is March 31, and the application can be acquired by emailing pvkkcomeau@hotmail.com.
