All nine state-qualifying Hockinson horse riders advance to regional meet

Against all other Washington Association of High School Equestrian Teams in the state, the nine horse riders from Hockinson who qualified for the state meet in Moses Lake on the weekend of May 21 will advance to a regional competition.

One two-person team also earned a state championship in the bi-wrangle event.

Each athlete will compete in their category against the top 10 placing riders from Washington and Oregon during the Pacific Northwest Invitational Conference (PNWIC) in Redmond, Oregon on June 16.

Below is a list of Hockinson’s results from the state tournament:

• Canadian flag team: Allison Domingos, Braden Roth, Ellie Barrett and Ethan Wilcox — silver medal

• Poles: Ethan Wilcox — bronze medal

• Drill: Brooklynn Slaby, Jewel Atchley, Liz Connors, Kaleigh Finklein, Ellie Barrett and Evi Vossler — fifth place

• Reining: Brooklynn Slaby — fourth place



• Birangle: Ellie Barrett and Ethan Wilcox — gold medal

• Barrels: Ellie Barrett — seventh place; Ethan Wilcox — 10th place

• Keyhole: Ethan Wilcox, eighth place

• Versatility: Jewel Atchley, Brooklynn Slaby, Braden Roth and Evi Vossler — ninth place

• Figure eight: Ethan Wilcox — 10th place

• Steer daubing: Braden Roth — bronze medal
