A year of resurgence for East Fork Remodeling

Battle Ground resident and East Fork Remodeling general contractor John Haney loves working with homeowners and bringing their visions to life.

After operating on his own for five years, Haney switched gears during the economic downturn in 2012 and went to work with different contractors and in various trades. This gave him the opportunity to expand his skills and gain more product knowledge.

Haney restarted East Fork Remodeling in November 2017. Since then, the 55-year-old has been enjoying a year of resurgence.

“This year was kind of, let’s just hop on the surfboard and see where the waves go,” Haney said. “This year has far exceeded my expectations both financially and well as just enjoying the mix. I didn’t just hunker down and do one thing. I did a lot of different flavors this year. And that’s what I like. I love doing a lot of different things. That’s how I continue to grow my skill set and learn new things.”

At the time of his business relaunch, Haney thought he would stick to kitchens, bathrooms and floors but he kept an open mind. He ended up doing a variety of remodeling projects for an apartment complex in Camas for about six months. He also picked up jobs in Kelso, Ridgefield and Felida. Haney is about to complete a drywall project on a 1949 home in Battle Ground.

“It’s always fun because when you get into a home, the homeowner has a vision. My experience has been that vision is pretty well dialed in by the time I get there,” Haney said. “But as the project goes and myself and the homeowner get to be more comfortable and we talk a little bit more, then things might kind of morph a little bit.”

Haney’s goal is to be able to offer everything the homeowner truly wants. And if he can’t deliver it, he can find somebody who can.
