South Pacific Cafe to celebrate 1 year

On Fri., Aug. 16, South Pacific Cafe & Lounge in Battle Ground will celebrate its one-year anniversary with special food items, fun drinks for both children and adults, door prizes and giveaways.

Located at 15 E. Main St., Battle Ground, South Pacific has also participated on numerous community events and fundraisers in addition to offering dinner seven nights a week and breakfast on Sundays. The list of things that staff at South Pacific have done for the community include:

• The donation of 10 percent of sales from items on the menu listed as “Tiger” items to the Tiger Booster Board to help fund the Tiger Program at Battle Ground High School. Keno Leighty, managing partner at South Pacific, also serves on the booster board as a member for Battle Ground High School.

• South Pacific runs the Battle Ground Little League concession stand and they donate 50 percent of the profits to the Battle Ground Little League. Leighty is currently the vice president of t-ball for the Battle Ground Little League.



• Leighty is also the co-chair for Battle Ground Prevent Together-Youth Substance Abuse Prevention. As an owner in South Pacific, he represents the business sector for the purpose of grant needs. In May, the group applied for a $500,000 grant and will find out in August if they received it.

• Past fundraising events that South Pacific has held include raising more than $5,000 for the Justin Carey family at a recent fundraiser. Leighty has also held fundraisers and/or donated to Battle Ground boys and girls rugby teams, the BGHS football team, ROCKSOLID Community Teen Center, various Pop Warner teams, fundraiser for Matt Paulsen, Silver Buckle Ranch, Make-A-Wish grant for Sadie, Avonlea Acres and more. The restaurant is also a paid sponsor for the Harvest Nights Car Cruise, Relay for Life and NSF Walk.

• On behalf of South Pacific, Leighty also serves as a youth drug court mentor for Clark County, on the Battle Ground/Prairie high schools’ mock interview board, the Passport to Battle Ground Program and South Pacific has catered numerous events at the Battle Ground Community Center.

On Aug. 16, South Pacific will be open from 3-11 p.m. and Chef Nik will create some special food items that will be run as specials that night to celebrate the restaurant’s anniversary. There will also be fun drink specials for children and adults, door prizes, some gift card giveaways and more. Leighty said they will also be thanking all the loyal guests who have helped them get where they are now.
