BATTLE GROUND – Northwood Public House & Brewery in Battle Ground will hold their second annual Oktoberfest Sat.-Sun., Oct. 10-11, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., at the restaurant located at 1401 SE Rasmussen Blvd., Battle Ground, in the Battle Ground Village.

This event is fun for the whole family and offers live music featuring Those Darn Accordions, plus Three for Silver, Wil Kinky Band and Coyote Willow. The event will also feature German beer and food, strong arm beer stein contest, children’s activities, coloring contest, balloon art, face painting and a chicken dance contest.

Northwood’s brewery, Little Dipper Brewing, will also be releasing a new beer, Otto’s Festbier.

The event’s featured act, Those Darn Accordions, is an “accordion-fueled rock ‘n roll band. The San Francisco Bay Area band, fronted by lead singer, songwriter and squeezebox wizard Paul Rogers promises to forever rearrange your understanding of the accordion. The band’s extreme squeeze boxers mix solid keyboard chops with a groundbreaking use of effects pedals and amps to produce a sound nothing like nothing you’ve ever heard emanating from an accordion.

“Northwood Public House is the perfect place for us to bring our Oktoberfest show,” Rogers said. “We’ve worked with the owner, Eric, many times and he knows how to put on a great event. We had a blast last year and it’s going to be even better this time.”

Those Darn Accordions have blazed a singular path in the pop music world using the accordion as their weapon of destruction. They’ve twice stunned the traditionalists at the prestigious International Accordion Festival (Lithuania and Italy) and entertained the LA glitterati wrap parties for Drew Carey and Walt Disney.

They even gave the major leagues a run for their money with performances at Wrigley Field (Chicago) and Candlestick Park (San Francisco). With a sense of humor that just won’t quit, the band rips through their sets with a manic energy, laying down slabs of sonic mayhem that brings audiences to their feet.

Those Darn Accordions will perform at Northwood’s Oktoberfest on Sat., Oct. 10, 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and on Sun., Oct. 11, 1:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
