Little Cups & Grownups to open second location in East Vancouver

Battle Ground residents Matthew and Janelle Parker, who opened Little Cups & Grownups play cafe in Battle Ground with their friends Brian and Stephanie Loll this past October, will open a second location in East Vancouver sometime in February.

The second Little Cups & Grownups will open in what used to be Cafe Sip-N-Play, located at 3000 SE 164th Ave., Vancouver. Janelle said they will have the same concept at the new location as the Battle Ground location – a place where grown ups can relax and enjoy some coffee, tea, etc., and their children can play. Like the Battle Ground location, the East Vancouver Little Cups & Grownups will have numerous activities for children, including things like a play house, a climbing play structure and other age-appropriate toys for infants and children.

Janelle said they will also offer daily classes at the new location such as Story Time with Phyllis every Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the new location. This class is offered every Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Battle Ground location.

“This class offers music, stories and dancing, and teaches about teamwork, colors and shapes and a weekly puppet friend,” Janelle said. “It’s wonderful. We will also host other classes like Music & Movement with Miss Dawn, Circle Time with Stephanie and other special events monthly.”

The Little Cups & Grownups play pack punch cards and memberships are also good at both locations. Play pack punch cards are $30 for 10 pre-paid plays and the card doesn’t expire until it is punched full. Memberships are $30 monthly for up to two children, $35 monthly for three and $40 monthly for four or more children. Janelle said they ask that the children on the membership are a part of the same family. For drop-in play, the cost is $4 per child. With that paid admission, each child has access to the toys and to the music and movement classes and other activities offered during the week.

The new East Vancouver location will also offer much of the same refreshments for sale, including teas, smoothies, frozen mocha drinks and other coffee drinks. Some food items will also be available such as homemade baked goods, salads, wraps, sandwiches, veggie plates, apples and cheese and more.

Janelle said they are aiming to open the new Little Cups & Grownups sometime in early- to mid-February, as they are waiting for inspections and permit approvals. She said although they aren’t taking down walls or remodeling the former Cafe Sip-N-Play space, they will be redecorating to give the new cafe a “Little Cups feel.”

“We will bring in some of the same toys as we have here in Battle Ground, but aim to make it a bit different so that our members and customers can have a variety,” Janelle said. “We decided to open Little Cups & Grownups East Side because it is move-in ready and we are so passionate about every neighborhood having a great play cafe to call their own. Every single day we welcome customers into Little Cups & Grownups Battle Ground that tell us how much they loved Sip-N-Play and how sad they are that the doors closed. We love how loved it was and want to continue what Diana and Al started on the East Side while building our North Clark County customer base.

“We are so excited to be here in North County and give families a chance to take their kids out to play without having to make the drive into town,” Janelle said. “We are striving to feel like our community’s family room.”

Hours between the two Little Cups & Grownups locations vary. The Battle Ground location is open Mon.-Thurs., 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Fri., 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sat., 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and for private event rentals 4-6 p.m. This location is closed Sundays for private event rentals. Time slots for Sundays are 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and a basic facility rental for this location is $200 for two hours of exclusive use of space, no limit on guests. A barista is also there to assist with set up and clean up, and guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink, or purchase from the kitchen. The same rental services are available at the East Vancouver location for $235 for two hours. There is a $100 non-refundable deposit to hold the space.

Hours at the new East Vancouver location will be Mon.-Thurs., 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Fri., 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sat., 10 a.m.-3 p.m., parties from 4-6 p.m.; and Sun., 10 a.m.-3 p.m., parties from 4-6 p.m.

“If we open and find that our customers want us to stay open later than 6 p.m. we will tweak our hours,” Janelle said. “In Battle Ground we have adjusted our hours twice and feel that we have found a good fit.”

The Battle Ground Little Cups & Grownups is located at 614 E. Main St., Battle Ground, and is currently open. The new East Vancouver location will be located at 3000 SE 164th Ave., Vancouver, and should be open sometime in early- to mid-February.
