Letter to the editor: John Horch is the logical choice to fill the position of our next sheriff

Posted

This November, voters will be asked to choose a new Clark County sheriff. The choice is between Rey Reynolds, a corporal with the Vancouver Police Department and John Horch, chief criminal deputy with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. I believe the choice is quite clear.

I have no doubt Rey Reynolds is a nice guy who has several years of experience in law enforcement. However, he does not have any administrative experience running a large law enforcement organization. I believe he is ill-equipped to handle the job.

John Horch has been with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for over 33 years and currently holds the position of chief criminal deputy. He has his finger on the pulse of the sheriff’s office and is intimately involved in its day-to-day operation. He knows the organization, its personnel, its needs, its budget and the communities it serves. Given his vast experience and current position, John Horch is the logical choice to fill the position of our next sheriff.
