Battle Ground Station developer says opening is coming soon

Three local food carts have parked on Battle Ground Station, the city’s first food cart pod, although they are not yet open for business.

Battle Ground Station food cart pod developer Parth Patel hopes to have a soft opening for the site at the end of April or in early May, once he receives his certificate of occupancy.

The site experienced multiple delays since breaking ground in 2021. Recently, an expected March 4 opening was pushed back due to hold up receiving an occupancy license from the city.

“(Delays) happen in all construction, right? But we’re past them all and we’re ready to open, so it’s looking good now,” Patel said.

He said he expects to complete the final few tasks requested by city staff, allowing for a final inspection, soon. They include labeling the location’s address and moving some planters on-site. Once an occupancy license is received, Patel said he will plan and announce a soft opening.

As of last week, North County Coffee, bobablastic and Brunch’d, a breakfast-themed food cart are parked onsite and will operate at the opening. Patel said, in addition to the local “Taqueria Los Toritos” Mexican food cart, he hopes to have a local pizza food cart at the station.

Patel still has a few spots vacant, and hopes the community offers feedback on what they would like to see. Patel is considering seeking a barbeque and smash-burger truck to bring more variety for customers. The station will be pet-friendly and may eventually have amenities, including televisions, installed after opening, Patel said.
