Woodland True Value Hardware remained open for business after a vehicle crashed into the front of the store, damaging the building and leaving a woman injured, the business reported June 22.
In a recent social media update, Mike from Woodland True Value said the store is operating as usual, though only one door is currently usable.
Repairs to the glass and door frame could take four to six weeks because the building dates back to the 1950s and some replacement parts are no longer readily available. As a result, boards may remain over the damaged portion of the storefront for a month or two.
The store reported that both the business and the vehicle owner are insured.
According to a social media post, the crash appeared to be a freak accident rather than the result of intentional neglect or reckless driving. The driver reportedly got into the vehicle and started it when it immediately revved to a high rpm and backed over the curb into the storefront.
A woman behind the vehicle was struck during the incident. According to the post, her husband said she suffered broken bones, large gashes and numerous cuts from store window glass. Her name was not released out of respect for her privacy.
The store also thanked community members who helped clean up and board up the damaged storefront after the crash. Among those thanked were James and Owen Harper, Brad Gillaspie and Tom Golik, along with other community members who offered time and resources to help the store recover.
