Woodland Public Schools maintenance, grounds and custodial crews continued work across the district last week as summer facility projects ramped up.
The district last week shared its second “Facilities Summer Dispatch” update, highlighting work completed at school buildings, athletic facilities and outdoor spaces.
Grounds crews cleaned restrooms at the Woodland High School sports complex and continued routine mowing, spraying and watering throughout the district. Crews also restored and mowed the grounds at Yale Elementary School. Summer staff also began working during the week, including pressure-washing walkways at the high school.
Maintenance staff replaced the outdoor freezer at Columbia Elementary School and upgraded several faucet fixtures. The department also continued districtwide deliveries, completed pending work orders, removed old carpet from designated classrooms and the staff break room at North Fork Elementary School, and delivered district vans to KWRL for annual Department of Licensing inspections.
Custodial crews completed several deep-cleaning projects. At Woodland High School, work included cleaning the kitchen and commons flooring, refurbishing the girls’ locker room with painting and window cleaning, and preparing spaces for an ESD 112 conference.
At Woodland Middle School, custodial staff maintained cleaning for ongoing summer breakfast and lunch service while also deep cleaning the auditorium, band room, horticulture room, gym locker room and several classrooms in the yellow hall. At North Fork Elementary and Columbia Elementary, staff replaced burned-out bulbs, cleared clogged sinks and completed extensive classroom deep cleans.
The district also reported progress on contracted projects. Playgrounds at North Fork Elementary and Columbia Elementary reopened to the public after receiving fresh bark dust. A roof project for Woodland Middle School portables 470, 471, 472 and 473 was also completed.
The district recognized grounds technician Darin Holmes as employee of the week. According to the district, Holmes helped restore the grounds at Yale Elementary School after learning the area needed attention.
