West Main Commons lands first tenants as Battle Ground project moves toward vertical construction

A long-awaited mixed-use development along West Main Street in Battle Ground is beginning to take shape, with construction underway and several tenants already committed to the project.

West Main Commons, located at 1305 W. Main St., is expected to deliver its first retail spaces by the end of 2026, according to leasing representatives for the development.

“We took over the leasing for the project a couple of months ago, so we haven't been involved in the whole development process, but we're involved now and we're actively looking for tenants,” said Nick Stanton, property director with NAI Elliott, the project's leasing agent. “We've gotten several leases that are already signed with Brewed Awakenings, OnPoint Credit Union, Edward Jones, Barbie Lounge and a Ramen tenant. We've got a couple of spaces remaining, so we're looking for other restaurants, retail, or service-type uses.”

The development consists of nearly 28,000 square feet of retail space spread across four buildings and a 225-unit apartment community connected by a public promenade. Retail spaces ranging from 2,083 to 8,400 square feet remain available, according to marketing materials from NAI Elliott.

Located just east of Battle Ground's only hotel, the project occupies one of the last remaining stretches of Main Street frontage in the city's commercial core.
Construction activity has become increasingly visible at the site after years of planning and delays.

A project sign once advertised the mixed-use development would be opening in early 2024, but much of the work did not begin until late 2025. The mixed-use development was first approved in September 2022 when the Battle Ground City Council voted 5-2 to approve a development agreement between the city and developer Deacon Development.
Stanton said construction is progressing and tenants could begin moving into the retail center before the end of the year.

“Activity is underway, and we should be expecting to deliver around the end of the year,” Stanton said.

Site plans illustrate that the retail center and apartment complex will be connected by a pedestrian-friendly public promenade. The development also includes more than 200 parking spaces and new access via Southwest First Way, which will extend east from Southwest 15th Avenue and help connect the commercial and residential portions of the site with all directions of Main Street traffic. Currently, plans detail direct access off of Main Street for just eastbound traffic.
