Washington State Horse Expo takes over the Clark County Fairgrounds
Mounted archers participated in a demonstration at the Washington State Horse Expo at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Ridgefield on Friday, March 4. After the archers completed their target practice, Katie Sterns led a flag ceremony atop her steed, Drogo. The rest of the team followed behind in unison as they circled the stadium.

Gein Courtney is pulled by Tinkerbell and Diesel, his two draft horses, at the Washington State Horse Expo at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Ridgefield on Friday, March 4. Courtney said he bought the percheron quarter horses, who are now 17, online when they were young.

Katie Sterns, the leader of the mounted archers, said the horses get nervous around crowds, but when the archers shoot while riding, the animals calm down because it’s what they’re used to at home.
