“I’m excited to bring together a local team to get this store up and running so we can serve our community,” said Katie Zadak, Battle Ground Walmart store manager. “I’m eager to meet motivated, customer service-oriented individuals who are looking for a job or even a career with Walmart.”

The majority of new associates will begin work in April for the Battle Ground store and in March for the Vancouver store to help prepare the stores for their grand openings, according to the news release.

At this point, Walmart officials said they do not have an exact grand opening date for the Battle Ground Walmart, but they do know it will be in late spring of this year.

Walmart officials announced their plans to build a Walmart Supercenter in Battle Ground in October 2012. The store is currently being built at the intersection of Southwest Scotton Way and State Highway 503 as a part of the future Mill Creek Town Center.

According to the Oct. 11, 2012, news release from Walmart officials, the approximately 150,000-square-foot Battle Ground Walmart store will include everyday household items with the added convenience of a full-service grocery department that will include fresh fruits and vegetables, a drive-through pharmacy and vision center, as well as new products and merchandise such as apparel, home goods, health and beauty aids and electronics, and an outdoor garden center.

Officials from Clark County Public Health have also confirmed they have received plans from Subway for a Subway restaurant to be built inside the Battle Ground Walmart. Currently, no other restaurants or fast food chains have submitted anything to the City of Battle Ground or to Clark County Public Health to build any other facilities in the area around the new Walmart.
