With the help of SWAT, a man at a La Center residence was arrested and booked into Clark County Jail around noon Sunday, Nov. 24, following a stabbing earlier in the morning.
According to Ashley Korslien, Clark County Sheriff’s Office communications manager, around 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 24, a person called 911 from his home in Vancouver to report that he had been stabbed. Police responded to the scene and learned that the stabbing had actually occurred earlier in the morning at a residence near the 200 block of West F Avenue in La Center. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital, Korslien stated in an email.
The victim identified the man who stabbed him as Brandon Treat, 46,, Korslien stated. The victim told police that he and Treat were involved in a physical fight, and Treat had produced a knife and stabbed him several times, Korslien added.
Patrol deputies responded to the home in La Center and attempted to contact Treat. Deputies announced their presence and made verbal attempts to convince Treat to surrender if he was inside. There was no response from inside the home, Korslien stated.
SWAT was then activated, and Treat surrendered to SWAT officers shortly after their arrival.
Deputies booked Treat into the Clark County Jail for assault II, burglary and violation of a protection order.
The large response of over 35 law enforcement vehicles filling the core of La Center concerned Clark County community members who took to social media. Posts on social media stated seeing a consistent flow of patrol vehicles, SWAT rigs and an ambulance traveling north on Interstate 5 before noon on Sunday, Nov. 24. Commenters on posts in Facebook stated that bomb squad and SWAT responders were at the Frontier Cardroom in La Center, but law enforcement staged along West Fifth Street and Aspen Avenue to move SWAT vehicles to the active scene on West Third Street and West F Avenue.
