Tukes Taphouse on Main Street is slated to open in the fall on Main Street in Battle Ground and will offer 16 taps, wine, pizza and space for two food carts.
Owners Lindsey Maze and her husband, Nick, have backgrounds in real estate and construction, but after spending some time in Central Oregon enjoying the taphouse and brewpub scene, they were inspired to turn the property initially intended as a real estate office into a taphouse of their own.
“We were born and raised in Battle Ground. My husband’s five generations deep [from] Battle Ground, and we wanted to be able to have something to basically show to our children that they can work hard and have a part of the community involvement,” Maze said. “And this is a kind of environment that we wanted to enjoy — have some outdoor ambiance kind of inspired from Central Oregon.”
When open, the historic cottage will serve beer and cider on tap and wine, no hard alcohol, Maze said. The food menu, Maze said, will be a limited pizza menu, but the property has space for two food carts or trucks, which will broaden the food options on site. Currently, Maze doesn’t know what the food carts will be.
The wines will be domestic, but the taps will entirely be local.
“We will have 16 taps for beer and ciders, so our mainframe is really tapped product,” Maze said.
On the same property at 113 E. Main St., will be a second building still under construction, which will be used for seating, Maze said.
“I think … our plan is to make sure that this is a family environment, you know, hang out, play some corn hole, do some stuff in the lawn during formidable hours or time of year and kind of allow that to be a family location that we don’t have much of these days here in Battle Ground,” Maze said.
Other plans for the lawn area during the Pacific Northwest “nice weather season” might include some weekly live music.
