Tickets are now on sale for Magenta Theater’s production of Don Quixote de La Center.

The performance by local playwright David Bareford centers around a loose adaptation of the novel Don Quixote de la Mancha. It is set at a group home for senior citizens in contemporary La Center.

In the play, an aging resident decides he is a “knight of old.” He embarks on comical and heartfelt misadventures as he and those around him grapple with dementia, identity, and what defines them, stated a news release.

The cast stars Magenta newcomers Christopher Cleveland as Don Quintero and Zane Jaeger as Jimmy, a worker in the group home. Returning to the Magenta stage and filling out the cast are actors David Roberts, Laura Henderson, Jason Litts, Jessica Moran, Reba Hoffman and Carol Radkins. The show is under the direction of Alice Tanzillo, with author Bareford providing creative insight.

Nine performances of the show are scheduled for August. They will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 12, Aug. 13, Aug. 19, Aug. 20, Aug. 26 and Aug. 27. The Aug. 14, Aug. 21 and Aug. 28 shows will be at 2 p.m.
