An abundance of swans and geese flock to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge for the winter months. A wide variety of other avians also call the wetlands home for the season.
As of Thursday, Jan. 15, a total of 110 bird species have been documented on eBird at the River S Unit of the wildlife refuge this month alone. With that large total, the average birder can expect to witness anywhere from 30 to 50 bird species on a trip around the auto tour loop.
