Authorities say a cyclist biking on Spirit Lake Memorial Highway on Wednesday afternoon struck a 2022 Chevy Silverado, damaging the pickup truck.

Gregory D. Franks, 57, was cycling east toward Silver Lake on the highway, also known as State route 504, around 2:40 p.m., when a Washington State Press memo says he lost control and veered from the shoulder to the eastbound lane, hitting the Silverado heading the same direction.

Franks was injured and sent to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview.

The driver of the Silverado — Donald M. Fudge, 58, of Silver Lake — was not injured.

No drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, which the memo lists was caused by speeding.
