When spring break is up, hopefully, the weather will heat up, but certainly, the spring sports season in Clark County will.
Soccer, softball, and baseball will peak with key matchups, and the track and field season will be steadily underway after this week.
Softball
For Battle Ground High School in the tough 4A Greater St. Helens League (GSHL), no bigger matchup comes when facing the school district rival down state Route 503. The Tigers and 3A GSHL Prairie Falcons will square off on the Battle Ground High School softball field on Thursday, April 10, at 4:30 p.m. It will be the only meeting between the two this season.
Then for Prairie softball right after the district rivalry game, the Falcons are slated to matchup against 3A GSHL foe, Kelso High School, on the road on Tuesday, April 15 at 4 p.m.
The 1A Trico League La Center Wildcats are set to have a true five-game week. The stretch of depth, determination and health includes a home game against Mountain View High School at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7, on the road against Stevenson High School at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, then against Stevenson at home at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, a rain-out makeup against Seton Catholic High School at home for 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, and at Hockinson High School at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11.
The 2A GSHL Ridgefield Spudders, who already have two games in the week, face a tough league test at home on Wednesday, April 9, when the Columbia River Rapids visit at 4:30 p.m.
Also in the 2A GSHL, the Woodland Beavers are slated to play at Columbia River High School on Friday, April 11, at 4 p.m., and the Hockinson Hawks play at Columbia River High School on Tuesday, April 8, at 4 p.m.
Baseball
The Battle Ground Tigers continue their slate of finding games on turf during the rainy portion of the season. On Wednesday, April 9 at 4 p.m., the Tigers will face Seton Catholic, but then league play against the Camas Papermakers gets underway at home on Monday, April 14 at 4:30 p.m., on the road for Tuesday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. and back at home on Thursday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. to conclude the three-game series.
The Prairie Falcons begin their league slate with matchups against the Mountain View Thunder, first on the road on Monday, April 7 at 4:30 p.m., at home on Tuesday, April 8 at 4:30 p.m., and back on the road on Thursday, April 10 at 4:30 p.m.
The La Center Wildcats begin league play against Stevenson High School at home on Tuesday, April 8 at 4:30 p.m., followed with the road trip into the Columbia River Gorge to complete the two game series on Thursday, April 10 at 4:30 p.m.
The Ridgefield Spudders begin league play with Hudson’s Bay but follow up with a two-game series against the reigning 2A state champ, Columbia River Rapids, on Monday, April 14, on the road at 4:30 p.m. and finish on Wednesday, April 16, at 4:30 p.m. at home.
The Woodland Beavers and Hockinson Hawks square off on the diamond against each other to begin their league journeys at Hockinson High School on Wednesday, April 9 at 4:30 p.m. and at Woodland High School on Friday, April 11 at 4:30 p.m.
Soccer
The Battle Ground Tigers will face the Heritage Timberwolves on the road on Wednesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. to begin the second stretch of the season. The Prairie Falcons will also play a non-league match against the Skyview Storm at Skyview High School on Wednesday, April 9, at 7 p.m.
The La Center Wildcats kick off post-spring break play at Stevenson High School on Tuesday, April 8.
The Ridgefield Spudders begin the second half of the season on Tuesday, April 8, at Hudson’s Bay High School at 7 p.m.. The Hockinson Hawks and Spudders will go at it in a fierce rematch at Ridgefield High School on Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m. while the Woodland Beavers play the Washougal Panthers on Tuesday, April 8 at 7 p.m.
Track and Field
The Tiger Invite at Battle Ground High School marks the first big track meet of the year on Saturday, April 12. Each coverage zone high school will be featured in events starting at 10 a.m.
The final track events are slated to begin at 5:40 p.m., with the final field events beginning at 1:45 p.m.
