Southbound I-5 North Fork Lewis River Bridge roadwork complete

As of Sept. 8, the North Fork Lewis Bridge road project affecting southbound Interstate 5 outside of Woodland has concluded.

The Washington state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) released a news release Friday, Sept. 6, that contractors were set to complete the deck repair and overlay project and reopen all three southbound lanes over the weekend.

The North Fork Lewis River Bridge project began in the summer of 2023. The work involved deck repairs and modifications to the bridge’s expansion joints to enhance structural integrity. The work on the northbound bridge span was completed earlier this summer. With the polyester concrete overlays on both the northbound and southbound North Fork Lewis River bridges now finished, the temporary lane closures will be lifted. This work is expected to extend the lifespan of the bridges for several years.

“WSDOT understands this work was especially disruptive to local road users. We appreciate the community’s patience while we made these critical repairs to keep this bridge open and safe for the traveling public,” WSDOT stated in the news release.
