A hiker remained missing Wednesday in the Coldwater area of Mount St. Helens, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.

Brian Yang, 25, was last seen at about noon Sunday at the Coldwater Trailhead.

Yang is described as a man of Asian descent who stands at about 5-foot-8 with a fit build, according to the sheriff’s office.

In a post on Facebook, Joint Base Lewis-McChord said Yang is a first lieutenant.

"We are aware of First Lieutenant Yang’s absence and are actively engaged in the search,” said Col. Joey Sullinger, I Corps public affairs officer. ”If anyone has any information about First Lieutenant Yang's whereabouts, we ask that you immediately contact the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office who is leading the search. We welcome any and all support to help find our Soldier."

About 130 Joint Base Lewis-McChord service members are actively working on the ground with Cowlitz County Search & Rescue, according to the post.

“We appreciate the many heartfelt requests or offers to volunteer and help with the search,” JBLM wrote. “We spoke with the Cowlitz County Search & Rescue team and they said they will get the word out if they need additional people to help with search efforts.”

Yang was last seen wearing a blue vest, a black or red T-shirt, black or red shorts and blue shoes.
