Bodywork Devine in Ridgefield helps clients feel rejuvenated through its services which include massages, facials, body scrubs, eyelash extensions and other treatments.
Owner Kristen Taylor keeps operations running smoothly with a small team that maintains a full schedule.
“We just started up here more than 10 years ago as one massage therapist and now we have four massage therapists and an aesthetician,” Taylor said. “It’s the biggest day spa in the area as far as Ridgefield is concerned.”
She said Bodywork Devine accepts health insurance for massages, which eases the cost for clients.
“We’re able to see a lot more people than some of the other places around town that don’t accept health insurance,” she said.
Taylor said the spa offers facials, massages, body treatments and permanent eyebrows. The business also features infrared treatments, which can help alleviate pain.
“I think it was the astronauts that developed the infrared treatment, so basically the heat penetrates way deeper into the tissues than a topical heat, so it melts away stored fat and toxins, because you’re in there sweaty,” she said. “You’re laying in this machine for an hour.”
Taylor said the treatment is effective for arthritis, and helps with sore joints and muscles.
Taylor also noted ways the spa benefits clients as a whole.
“The fact that we take their health insurance, it helps them manage their pain more easily instead of having to pay out of pocket every time,” she said. “As far as the skincare treatments … we do anti-aging treatments, which are probably our most popular.”
The anti-aging treatments help eliminate fine lines, wrinkles or pigment problems, providing a “more youthful look,” Taylor said.
“Everybody loves my aesthetician,” she said. “She is very effective in her treatment, so people are able to see a difference when they leave. Some treatments might be ongoing for three months once a month.”
She said the staff “bounced back well” after they returned to the spa following the shutdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic. The customers have also benefited since the shutdowns were lifted, Taylor said.
“People are very interested in trying to make themselves feel better, trying to make themselves look better, trying to get a boost or a pick-me-up after being so repressed,” she said. “Everybody’s very happy when they leave. I think it’s a good mood boost.”
Taylor believes Bodywork Devine stands out from similar spas because of the number of services they offer.
“For the most part, we run a full schedule. We have online booking, so it’s really easy for people to schedule their appointments even from their house in the middle of the night,” she said. “If they want to schedule an appointment, they can hop online and see what’s available.”
Bodywork Devine is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. It is located at 8507 S. Fifth St., Suite No. 104 in Ridgefield.
