The Ridgefield School District (RSD) Board of Directors appointed Amanda Ronstadt to fill a vacant position on the board during its Tuesday, Oct. 22, meeting.

The board selected Ronstadt from a pool of three finalists, following the resignation of former board member Emily Enquist, an RSD news release on Oct. 24 stated.

“Ridgefield has been my home since my husband and I moved here over 16 years ago, and I’ve seen how much our community has evolved over that time,” Ronstadt said in the RSD release. “Our schools are incredible, and I see a future where they continue to grow and become even more than the amazing institutions that they already are.”

Ronstadt began teaching in 2008 and has worked at Fort Vancouver High School, Columbia River High School and Hudson’s Bay High School. In 2012 she took time to focus on raising her family and volunteering in the Ridgefield community, the news stated.

Ronstadt holds multiple degrees and certificates, including a bachelor of arts in biology from the University of Montana, a master of Science in plant sciences from the University of Arizona’s College of Agriculture and a teaching certificate from the University of Arizona, the news release stated.

Ronstadt is known locally for volunteering at various community functions, including Citizens for Ridgefield Schools, Ridgefield’s Multicultural Festival and the city parks cleanup events, the release stated.

“We are thrilled to welcome Amanda Ronstadt to the Ridgefield School District Board of Directors,” Board President Brett Jones said in the release. “Her experience working in education and deep commitment to our community through her volunteer efforts make her an excellent addition to the board.”
