The Ridgefield Lions Club focused on community service this Thanksgiving with a host of activities aimed at helping those in need.

From dinner boxes to children’s gifts, Lions Club members came together to support underprivileged families.

“That’s our motto. We serve. We truly put it into action this year,” Ridgefield Lions Club President Josh Olson said in an organization press release. “We really think about where our dollars can do the most good for the Ridgefield community. It’s our home and the place we want to help.”

Ridgefield Lions Club members played a key role in supporting Compassion 360, a nonprofit faith-based charity located at 747 Pioneer St., Ridgefield. Members provided donations, packed boxes and helped deliver 250 Thanksgiving meals for the organization, which was up from 150 in 2022; 50 of the boxes were sent to families in the Woodland area, according to the press release. Club members personally donated $2,550 to the effort, which the Lions Club matched for a total of $5,100 for Compassion 360, the press release stated. The Ridgefield Lions Club also joined other organizations in supporting the Family Resource Center, located at 510 Pioneer St., Ridgefield. The Family Resource Center provides aid to families in the Ridgefield School District. The Ridgefield Lions Club, Ridgefield Readers Book Club, Copper Bell Bookshop, Opus School of Music and a local bunco group purchased and delivered 100 gifts for Family Resource Center children. Club members also baked and donated 35 dozen cookies and made and delivered 18 Christmas wreaths to the organization, the press release stated.
