The city of Ridgefield recently received an award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its dedication to transparency and accessibility in financial reporting.
Ridgefield’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) provides an overview of the city’s financial structure, revenues and expenses, capital projects and community statistics in a format designed for readers without a background in public finance.
To be eligible for the award, the city had to first earn the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (ACFR) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, which it received in 2024, according to the release.
“These awards are more than certificates on a wall — they’re a reflection of our promise to Ridgefield residents to be transparent, responsible stewards of public funds,” City Manager Steve Stuart said in the release. “We’re proud of the outstanding work by Finance Director Kirk Johnson and his team in creating clear, accessible financial information that helps our community stay informed and engaged in how their government works.”
