Ridgefield councilmatic public safety sales tax proposal advances to final vote

The Ridgefield City Council on Thursday, Sept. 25, approved the first reading of an ordinance that would enact a 0.1 percent sales tax dedicated to public safety needs, including police staffing, equipment and related services. 

The measure, allowed under House Bill 2015, is projected to generate about $350,000 annually if adopted. The proposal will return for a final reading and vote during the council’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at 510 Pioneer Street, Ridgefield.
