The Battle Ground Police Department (BGPD) is investigating an accidental gunshot wound at the same North Parkway Avenue residence where a search warrant was served by Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) detectives in January.

Clark County Fire District 3, American Medical Response and BGPD responded to an accidental gunshot in the 900 block of North Parkway Avenue on Monday, Feb. 10, at 9:20 a.m. The incident led to a female occupant of the residence being transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred just days after CCSO detectives with the Special Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Southwest Washington Regional Special Weapons and Tactics, the Battle Ground Police Department, CCSO Tactical Detective Unit and the Vancouver office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation served a search warrant at the home on Jan. 28.

Investigators later served a search warrant on a vehicle on Jan. 28, as well. The investigation led to the arrest of David Jones, 48, of Battle Ground.

Jones was arrested for unlawful possession of firearms and possession of controlled substances. Investigators found two firearms and small amounts of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine in the residence and a loaded handgun in the vehicle on Jan. 28.

In 2024, the Vancouver Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team searched the same residence and seized 12 firearms from Jones. Prior to the January search warrant, he had been out of custody and awaiting disposition on the 2024 charges.

As of Thursday, Feb. 13, Jones was not listed on the Clark County jail roster.
