One person was fatally struck by an Amtrak passenger train Saturday near the Kelso train station.
Bryan Ditterick, spokesperson for Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue, told The Daily News that personnel responded to the scene at 5:11 p.m. but did not provide any medical aid to the victim, who was already deceased.
Ditterick did not provide the location of the scene and referred questions to the Kelso Police Department.
The police department did not immediately respond to questions Monday.
According to a recording of the 911 call, emergency dispatch said at the time that the accident occurred between 4:41 p.m. and 5:11 p.m.
The dispatcher said it took place near the Kelso Amtrak station, at 501 South First St., and involved an Amtrak passenger train and a pedestrian, which caused the train to stop for a period of time.
However, FOX 12 reports its reporter Leslie Dominique was on the train at the time and said the accident occurred near North First Avenue and Church Street, 0.2 miles north of the Kelso train station.
Janet Matkin, communications manager for the Washington State Department of Transportation, told The Daily News that the train was a long-distance Amtrak ride, the Coast Starlight, which travels between Los Angeles and Seattle.
