Ridgefield’s Pioneer Street will close between Discovery Drive and 56th Place from Monday, Jan. 13, to Tuesday, April 22, to expedite road construction for the Pioneer widening and Discovery Drive roundabout projects. The project is currently one-third completed, a news release by Ridgefield stated.
The closure will help minimize traffic disruptions and improve safety while crews work to upgrade water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure in the area. The closure will also save money by reducing the amount of repetitive road closures and re-openings, according to the news release.
The road closure is expected to reduce the length of the project by over 50 days, the release stated. By fully closing the section of Pioneer Street, construction will be completed before the summer travel season.
Drivers are encouraged to use South Royle Road, Wells Drive, Timm Road, South Sixth Way or South 56th Place during the closure. Northbound traffic may use North Royle Road to access the La Center Interstate 5 exit. Customers of Ridgefield Physical Therapy, Mountain View Dental and Costco may use Discover Drive or North 56th Place during the closure, the release stated.
