Old Town Battle Ground businesses to collaborate on parking solution

Two Old Town Battle Ground businesses are partnering to create nearly 50 paved parking spaces on property adjacent to their Main Street locations.

Urban Basics & Co. and Tuke’s Public House & Garden are collaborating to develop a parking area on property they own next to their businesses. The property occupies the southern half of a block bordered by SE First and SE Second avenues and facing SE First Street, according to a news release from Amplify Group Inc.

“This is an opportunity to support Old Town Battle Ground’s vibrancy by offering a parking solution in close proximity to Main Street businesses,” Max Booth, who leads real estate development for Maddox Industrial Transformer and related businesses, said in the press release.

Parking has been identified as a key challenge in the city’s Old Town Revitalization Plan. Booth said additional parking solutions will still be needed to support the area’s businesses.

Urban Basics & Co., at 209 E. Main St., offers home goods, gifts, art supplies and vintage items from multiple vendors. Tuke’s Public House & Garden, at 113 E. Main St., serves artisan sourdough pizza and offers a selection of locally crafted beverages. The new parking area is expected to improve access to these and other Main Street businesses and be completed by summer 2027.
