Mount St. Helens Visitor Center, located at 3029 Spirit Lake Highway, Castle Rock, and Seaquest State Park, located at 3030 Spirit Lake Highway, Castle Rock, will close this month for updates and renovations.
Mount St. Helens Visitor Center will close Monday, Sept. 30, for a complete update to its exhibits. It is expected to reopen in May 2025, a news release by Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission stated.
Though the visitor center itself will be closed, the parking lot, plaza bathrooms and Wetland Haven Trail will remain open, the release stated.
Many of the visitor center exhibits are almost 40 years old, having been constructed in 1986. The new exhibits will document the growth and transformation of the area since Mount St. Helens’ eruption in 1980, the release stated.

Nearby Seaquest State Park campground and day use area will also be closed through mid-October for road maintenance work, such as regrading and resurfacing. After the road work is completed, the park will remain open for winter day use and camping, the news release stated.
